Plagiarism Check
Plagiarism Policy and Screening
Indonesian Journal of Economics (IJE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and academic honesty. Every manuscript submitted to the journal is subject to a mandatory plagiarism screening process to ensure the originality of the work.
1. Plagiarism Screening Tool
All submitted manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism and self-plagiarism using Turnitin or iThenticate software before they are sent to reviewers.
2. Similarity Threshold
-
The maximum allowable Similarity Index is 20%.
-
The similarity score for a single source must not exceed 3%.
-
The screening process typically excludes the Bibliography/References and Quoted Material (properly cited within quotation marks).
3. Types of Plagiarism
IJE strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism, including but not limited to:
-
Direct Plagiarism: Copying someone else's work word-for-word without attribution.
-
Self-Plagiarism: Reusing significant portions of the author’s own previously published work without proper citation or notification to the editor.
-
Mosaic Plagiarism: Patching together phrases and ideas from various sources without original thought or proper citation.
-
Data Fabrication or Falsification: Manipulating research data or results to provide a false representation of the findings.
4. Consequences of Plagiarism
The editorial board of IJE handles plagiarism cases based on the severity of the violation:
-
Minor (Below 20% but lacks proper citation): The manuscript will be returned to the author for revision and proper referencing.
-
Moderate (21% - 40%): The manuscript will be rejected immediately, and the author will be given a formal warning.
-
Severe (Above 40% or clear evidence of data theft): The manuscript will be rejected, and the author(s) may be blacklisted from submitting to the Indonesian Journal of Economics for a specific period (e.g., 2–3 years). Their home institution may also be notified in extreme cases.
5. Policy for Post-Publication Plagiarism
If plagiarism is discovered after an article has been published, the journal will conduct an investigation. If proven, the article will be retracted (withdrawn), and a formal "Retraction Notice" will be published on the journal's website to inform the academic community.
Editorial Note: We highly recommend that authors perform an independent plagiarism check before submitting their manuscripts to avoid delays or rejection.
